Many couples have a somewhat ordinary story of how they saw eachother in either a bar, or at a party, were attracted by one another, and fell in love. Our story isn't even close to one of those "love at first sight" titles.
We actually went to high school together, and knew each other way back when. No, we weren't high school sweethearts, actually we were too shy to even talk to one another. After high school, rarely did we see each other, when on occasion we would run into one another at Safeway where Toph worked.
It wasn't until late October 2010, we saw each other at Toph's "bachelor" house. Kadie came over to hang out with Toph's roomate, and that is where they "actually" met each other. Kadie thought Toph's name was actually Cody! After a brief hello, Kadie went home.
The next day, after a Facebook friend request, the two hit it off amazingly, and became really great friends. Four hour phone conversations every night was definitely turning into something more than just a good friend relationship.
We actually decided not to date, unless feelings were really there. We didn't want this relationship to turn into a stupid fling, then lose the great friendship we had started. We hung out a lot together, just as friends, and decided to wait it out and see what would happen.
One night, in early November 2010, something sparked with the two of us. We knew that we couldn't just be friends. We knew it was something much too deep than a friend relationship. We decided to take our friendship to the next level, and date one another. It was such a relief knowing it wasn't awkward or funny to date one another instead of being friends. Sometimes a great friendship can be ruined when a couple decides to date one another. In our case, it made our relationship stronger, and happier.
Topher's real name is actually "Christopher," but everyone outside of his family knows him by Topher. Other names he goes by is Toph, T, T-Man, Toph-ster, etc. Kadie has a couple of nicknames too; Kadie Bug, Bug, and Toph came up with Kk.
Toph joined the United States Air Force in February of 2009, but decided to wait for the job position he was aiming for: Biomedical Engineering. In January of 2011, the USAF contacted him, and explained he would be leaving for boot camp in April. He actually recieved his second choice of job position: Electrical Power Production.
On Sunday, April 10 2011 Topher and Kadie climbed up Dog Mountain where Toph proposed! It was such an amazing and romantic idea.
On April 19 Topher was sworn into the Air Force, and flown to San Antonio, Texas for an 8.5 week boot camp full of fun...pshh. Topher's parents Becky and Kevin as well as Kadie flew down to watch Toph graduate from boot camp on Thursday, June 16, 2011. This hot and sunny vacation was only 4 days long, but was well worth the trip.
From June 20-September 13 Topher would be living at the Sheppard Air Force Base by Witchita Falls, Texas...13.5 weeks of learning his trade, and going to school...while Kadie stayed in Washington. Kadie kept busy with work, farmer's markets, and her 4-H club which kicked booty at the local county fair! During this time, Topher found out where he would be stationed after he came home. Aviano Italy!
Topher returned home on Wednesday, September 14, a day earlier surprise for Kadie, who thought he was actually returning home on September 15. Topher was able to stay home for about a month, where he participated in the Recruiter's Assistance Program.
On October 11, Topher left for Italy, leaving Kadie at home, until he was able to get her on this orders. Their big day is Saturdsay, April 14, 2012. If you have been sent an invitation, we look forward to seeing you at our big day!
